Double Invasion of Pu Yang, part 2!Turn 6:Shi Jin, Zhang Gao's Invaders: 150 Troops, 80 Morale, 200 Gold, 3100 Food.Ling Han, Chen Ping's Invaders: 140 Troops, 80 Morale, 0 Gold, 3900 Food.Weather: Snow
Shi Jin continues slogging south, wishing the weather gods would stop laughing at him.
KongBu DaiFu decides that following this guy is kind of boring and splits off in a more westerly direction.
Tan Ju is visited by the ghost of Ma Su (no, not that Ma Su, the real Ma Su), which tells him that sitting in the hills is a bad idea. Or maybe he had too good of a view of the advancing armies up there and got nervous. Whatever the case, he gets up and moves a hex northeast.
Bei Nu finally gets back on his well-rested horses and gallops up and around Shi Jin, laughing at him too.
Shang Shao decides that Bei Nu is cooler and tries to follow him insted of Shi Jin. Unfortunately, Shi Jin is encamped in the grasslands in front of Bei Nu, and Shao just can't quite muster the effort to climb the snow-covered hills to go around him and has to settle for waiting behind Shi Jin.
Zhuge Dun is also visited by the ghost of Ma Su (no not that Ma Su...) and leaves his hill, moving east.
Lan Shi Hong is still invisible. Maybe she was the ghost...
Ling Han thinks that the just-vacated hill spots are more prime real estate than his supply depot, and moves east to take up Tan Ju's old spot.
Turn 7:Shi Jin, Zhang Gao's Invaders: 150 Troops, 74 Morale, 200 Gold, 2720 FoodLing Han, Chen Ping's Invaders: 140 Troops, 74 Morale, 0 Gold, 3480 FoodWeather: Rainy
Shi Jin turns westward, glad that it's back to just rain, even if some of it is turning into ice on the surface of the snow. As he passes through the valley between the rows of hills he yells at his men who are having snowball fights with the icy remnants and he gets struck in the head. At this point, someone notifies him that it wasn't a snowball that hit him, but a rock. Looking up, he can see that it's true, there are quite a lot of rocks falling from the hills and hitting not only him...
(Rockslide Trap succeeds: Shi Jin -7)KongBu frowns in consternation at his orders. He can't make it to his destination on time if he takes the time to scout out his path. Deciding that it'd be safer to stay behind Shi Jin, he settles for moving south over the northern hills next to him, not progressing farther quite yet.
Tan Ju, seeing the supply depot vacated, takes the opportunity to move in and enjoy the relative comfort.
Bei Nu heads as far south as he can before advancing west carefully. He gets the bright idea of checking the hill just west of where Shi Jin ran afoul of a trap, and his scouts warn him that sure enough, it's a trap!
(Probe succeeds) He sensibly steers south of that hill and runs straight into Zhuge Dun guarding Ling Han's east flank!
(ZD -8, BN -5)Shang Shao follows along behind Bei Nu. Unable to get in on the action, he decides to launch a night raid on Ling Han! The nervous soldiers, not quite expecting this from what quick training they'd received, follow along and still manage to do a little damage and escape unscathed.
(LH -1, -5 Morale Chen Ping's Army, +5 Morale Zhang Gao's Army)
Zhuge Dun sees Bei Nu's horses and scoffs, setting up a defensive spearwall and launching an assault against the small cavalry force.
(Wall, BN -8, ZD -3)Lan Shi Hong decides ninja'ing is over-rated and switches to raid mode instead. It doesn't go as well as hoped, but thanks to her immense talent, she manages to keep it under control.
(BN -1, LSH -2, -5 Morale Zhang Gao Army, +5 Morale Chen Ping Army)Ling Han joins in on the fracas, moving to the south of Zhuge Dun and Charging the shrinking cavalry unit as he yells something really inspiring.
(Inspire, Charge: BN -11 [wiped out], LH -3; -10 Morale Zhang Gao Army, +5 Morale Chen Ping Army, Bei Nu escapes)Wu Yong thinks about doing something, but decides that Zhuge Dun, the only target in ploy range, isn't worth the effort.
Bei Xin has more energy in him and uses it to unleash some discord among Shang Shao's troops!
(Discord success)Turn 8:Shi Jin, Zhang Gao's Invaders: 118 Troops, 62 Morale, 200 Gold, 2437 FoodLing Han, Chen Ping's Invaders: 125 Troops, 77 Morale, 0 Gold, 3105 FoodWeather: Overcast
Shi Jin ignores the fighting going on south of the hills and continues westward towards Tan Ju. Unfortunately, the fleeing Bei Nu never gave him the memo about the other Rockslide trap.
(Rockslide Trap succeeeds: Shi Jin -6)KongBu is now really confused about what to do, as his desired target isn't in range of his desired spot to camp anymore, and Shi Jin is still getting nowhere fast so he can't use him as a shield for an advance. He eventually decides that staying out of harm's way is the most important thing, and stays behind Shi Jin.
Shang Shao, his men still aflutter with Bei Xin's trickery, decides another raid on Ling Han would be better than getting into a straight-up brawl. He lights some torches and starts to head off towards the enemy camp, before his men yell at him for being an idiot since the torch will give him away. Deciding to save the fire for some point when he's figured out a way to bring it along secretly, he sets off again, a few companies of soldiers in tow. Sadly, some of them didn't catch on when Shao discarded his torch and bring their own, with the predictable result of being spotted a mile away and driven off.
(SS -3)Zhuge Dun continues to press the attack, moving forward and harries the already distressed Shang Shao.
(Wall, SS -8, ZD -2)Tan Ju gets comfy in the supply depot, watching other people do stuff.
Lan Shi Hong moves in a little more and continues her raiding ways against KongBu DaiFu. This one goes a little better.
(KD -1, -5 Morale Zhang Gao Army, +5 Morale Chen Ping Army)Ling Han moves ahead to join Zhuge Dun again in beating on the same opponent, this time Shang Shao.
(Charge, SS -17, LH -3)Wu Yong finally decides to do something, going and getting a bunch of chocolate and bribing some of Ling Han's men into defecting.
(Rumor, LH -3, SJ +3)Bei Xin one-ups the other advisor, sending still more agents into Shang Shao's camp. It takes a lot of fast talking as people there are already suspicious, thinking of the discord already caused, but eventually they still manage to fall for Xin's claims.
(Confuse success)Turn 9:Shi Jin, Zhang Gao's Invaders: 86 Troops, 55 Morale, 200 Gold, 2437 FoodLing Han, Chen Ping's Invaders: 117 Troops, 80 Morale, 0 Gold, 3105 FoodWeather: Rainy
Shi Jin shakes his fist at the hills and continues westward towards his targets: Tan Ju and Lan Shi Hong, sure that since he's moving away from the hills he can't possibly fall into another rockslide trap. He's right. This time, it's a fire trap. The flames die quickly in the renewed bout of rain, which Shi Jin can finally thank for something instead of curse, but the damage is already done.
(Fire Trap success: SJ -5)KongBu tentatively decides that he can still be considered 'behind' Shi Jin now by some definition if he moves to his desired position, the hill that had previously caused Shi Jin such fun. He attempts to scatter a wide burst of arrows onto both Zhuge Dun and Ling Han's armies, but comes up short, only a few falling among any of the enemy.
(Volley fails: ZD -5)Shang Shao starts angrily trying to beat some sense into his discordant, confused troops. He manages to quickly bring the discord under control and re-form his lines, but his men are still confused about why exactly he's beating up on his own soldiers and won't actually do anything.
Zhuge Dun, seeing Ling Han along next to him, gets the idea of having them both attack the beleagured Shang Shao at the same time! The confused and rapidly shrinking army can barely muster any sort of retaliation.
(Simultaneous Attack: SS -16, ZD -1, LH -1)Tan Ju yawns, enjoys the show.
Seeing Shang Shao's plight,
Lan Shi Hong decides he looks like an easy target, and tries to sneak up on him with another raid. Unfortunately, with only six hundred men left, Shang Shao doesn't exactly have a large sprawling camp that's easy to sneak around in, and the raiding unit is quickly beat off.
(LSH -3)Wu Yong grumbles about having to work again and sends some agents off to convince Lan Shi Hong's soldiers to desert her. However, these agents fail so badly that Lan Shi Hong's sweet talk would have convinced them to defect to her side had they not already been ordered to be especially cautious of tricks!
Seeing Shang Shao starting to regain control over his unit,
Bei Xin disrupts it again.
(Discord success)Turn 10:Shi Jin, Zhang Gao's Invaders: 65 Troops, 52 Morale, 200 Gold, 2289 FoodLing Han, Chen Ping's Invaders: 112 Troops, 77 Morale, 0 Gold, 2769 FoodWeather: Rainy
Shi Jin almost doesn't want to move now after all those traps, but proceeds to march forward, without falling into any more traps, and engage Lan Shi Hong in combat.
(LSH -10, SJ -4)KongBu tries another Volley attack, this time managing to pull it off.
(LH -5, ZD -4)Shang Shao fumes as his few remaining soldiers continue to act like they don't know who he is and refuse to obey.
Zhuge Dun has his two hundred men attack Shang Shao. It's really effective.
(SS -1, ZD -1)Tan Ju sees the situation starting to turn against them and leaves the comforts of the supply depot to attack KongBu DaiFu's archers. The untrained rabble he leads have some trouble making it up the hill to attack, but manage to knock a good number of bowmen off their perch nonetheless.
(KD -11, TJ -3)Lan Shi Hong doesn't have the energy to muster for another raid, especially after her earlier failure, and decides to just go for a conventional attack. Ignoring Shi Jin on her flank, she also moves forward to assail KongBu's archers.
(-5 KD, -2 LSH)Ling Han doesn't want to deal with another round of arrows and scampers back to the apparent safety of the supply depot.
Wu Yong scowls about his earlier attempt on Lan Shi Hong and vows revenge, this time attempting to confuse her soldiers rather than get them to desert.
(Confuse success)Bei Xin just shakes his head, having no more work to do for now since Shang Shao is already confused and discorded.
