Shibata was a crybaby. All fussy over something as menial as invading his territory and chopping off Inaba Ittetsu's (yeah, I remembered his name!) shootin' fingers :P

Kidding, of course. I loved that, actually. It was absolutely a dick move on the part of the Yoshiyuki to invade Shibata and chop Inaba's fangles off, and it highlighted how my PC was really just a young idealist thrown into a Game of Thrones-esque environment. Ujio Hanzo was the calculating one behind him who told him to invade and found amusement in Inaba (a rifle commander) losing his trigger fingers, Shino just kinda said, "Well, if you think so..." up until that point. After that, Ujio took a backseat (I think because he went inactive for a bit?) and we went into damage control with the Chiaki labeling us as enemies once Shibata sought their aid. That's when my PC started to take charge out of necessity. I can't remember if that's when we went to war with Ranbir, or if it was prior to the Shibata-smashing, but that whole timeframe was awesome. I think it was after, because I'm pretty sure the only reason we gained ground against him was because I was tied in with the Hojo-Toyotomi/Hashiba group. I practically cheated. Without them, Ranbir probably would've crushed me, to be fair.

The whole narrative around the conflicts was great.

3 stats, officer-driven turn system, heavy RP-centric political system.
I don't have the luxury of a programmer on staff like we had back in HoC: Japan to actually to anything like the php tool we had, but that is why the simpler system would be utilized.

That battle (Battle of Kofu?) was simultaneously awesome and devastating at once. First proper full scale engagement for my character, complete with shiny elite cavalry, and I get bum-rushed by Honda Tadakatsu and Tokugawa Ieyasu. It certainly changed up my character's story to defect to the Hojo clan after being captured.

I never did quite get finished writing that final bit of the endgame story. Must have been something to do with Nash getting me to re-write everything he'd already done for part 1.

Well then, if there's that much support, I'll definitely look into getting something started.

Only if you name it Sengoku Jidai Sim.

I may just reuse that little ol' name. I'd hate to use HoC's name without the support of the rest of the old staff, anyway.

Right now we're doing some pre-game testing in Simzhou. The first thread is where you can create your character, the second thread lists the rules for the testing. Feel free to jump in!

As far as a Japan Sim goes, just know that I have found one major problem...

A guy who isn't all that great at math creating a damage formula for the battle system takes a lot longer than said person might have original anticipated.
Just can't find that right combination of numbers and symbols to get me where I want. :x
