To be honest, I'm looking forward to see the resolution for the matter with the fishmonger. :)

Hell of a marketing campaign for his shop and his fishy wares that's for sure! :D

Maybe he's from a family of fishmongers and everyone involved will have to fight duels.

Can anyone remember if any famous officers were fishmongers before they reached prime time?

He Jin was a butcher before becoming emperor first, right? maybe he did a jaunt into fishmongering first

Purely speculative here. But I won't be surprised if Gan Ning did some fishing before he became a pirate. In those days, wholesaling wasn't a concept yet. Fishermen probably took their catch to market themselves. So there you have it...Gan Ning!

As a matter of fact, Gan Ning would probably be just the sort of fishmonger to be bad-tempered and beat up customers over perceived slights of his wares. And he could possibly have kicked the asses of many government officers back in those days!

That is if Gan Ning was ever a fisherman/fishmonger. Haha...no historical evidence for that though!

Google search for terms "Chinese heroes", "fishmonger", "fisherman" didn't come up with anything relevant. Though there were many other renowns who came from other humble origins.

Sandal Weaver - Liu Bei
Butcher - Zhang Fei (several throughout history eg: Fan Kuai of early Han)
Guard - Guan Yu
County Constable/Sheriff - Liu Bang (founding Han emperor)
Transport officer - Song Jiang (Later Song/Water Margin tales)
Monk - Lu Zhi Shen (Later Song/Water Margin tales)

You might find it hilariously ironic (in this context) the following generals "became" renowned "butchers" after they came into prime time. LOL!

Bai Qi (Warring States - Qin empire)
Zhao Erfeng (Qing dynasty)

I think more He Jin's family were butchers like Sun Jian was descended from merchant family. The three kingdoms was a time for social mobility until the old order got control back but can't recall a fisherman

Unless Wang Xiang (became minister under Wei and Jin) catching fish for his stepmother in bleak winter with water frozen (tried to break the ice while unclothed) counts. Before we condemn the step-mum, she was auditioned for Cinderella 3kingdoms style by setting him tasks that would kill him.

Oh no, all of our casual slandering of fisherman and fisherwomen alike turned Gan Ning to piracy

I think if he didn't become a pirate, he wouldn't have joined up with Huang Zu as a military officer. And hence wouldn't have turned to Sun Ce/Sun Quan as a general.

Hey...perhaps that's the path and precedent for our fishmonger guy to join us as an officer! As what somebody suggested earlier...to hire him instead! Except he doesn't have to go the piracy route! The city will buy up all his fish and then give him a commission!

Note, if anyone gets hurt/maimed in the riot, please feel free to drop by my clinic for healing. Or, if you want to fight someone, I'd be down too. Got nothing going on otherwise. 8-)

Hey guys, I'm back! But just for a short while, before I rush off to yet another jungle.

Mat, in the interim just give Jiang Yan orders for the riot stuff, and take it that I already agree with them?

Hi all

I have a technical question. Under the [2.2] skills list, I could not find alchemist but subsequently it was mentioned in other rules??

Hello Ashelia88

I checked the crafting shop and that doesn't have alchemist options to craft so I assume it still being in rules is an error

I think it was removed for the pre-game scenario, but I'm not 100% sure. DZ I'll write up my next post in a bit
