The world under heaven, long divided, must unite. Long united, must divide...

Based on the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Koei's successful series, RoTKgame brings to life the era of the Three Kingdoms.

What RoTKgame has to offer

-Create your own character and live the dreams you wish, or follow in the footsteps of over 650 historical characters, all of whom made their impact on this era.
-See the impact of your actions. Every battle you fight has the potential to change the landscape of the world.
-Become a fierce general, wily strategist, or clever sovereign. Dream your character from its base, and build it up to the top!
-We accept role-players of any level. The site does not function off of complicated, formulated role-play, and thus is easy for both beginners and rewarding for experts who wish to simply build a storyline to their desires without constraints.
-The game is divided into 'Seasons', or 'sessions' for which the game is in play. Each season offers something new and unique, no two seasons are alike. This also eases the 'power gap' between members, each season is a new tale, and great for new members who want to make their mark on the site.

What makes us different
There are a handful of forums out there that use this era, with a similar format. Why choose RoTKgame over others?

-We are a veteran community. Between two sites, the concept of RoTKgame has lasted over 5 years, despite numerous staff changes, simply because the members of the site wanted to keep the game alive.
-Simulated system keeps moderators as unbiased and fair as possible. This system was created over 5 years ago, and has been constantly developed.
-Helpful staff. All of the current staff members, including the current head moderators, were once members (some more than once). We know exactly how you feel, and consider every question and suggestion.
-The site runs on its community. Unlike some sites, where 2-3 members can still continue without much issue, RoTKgame needs its members to get to know each other
-Continuous game. Though you may RP at your own pace, the game's functions take place on a 24 hour system. Thus, you'll never have to wait for a 'turn' to be over, which can take weeks or even months, unlike other RoTK sims.
-It's as involved as you like. If you're an extremely casual player, you can easily contribute by spending less than 5 minutes on the site. If you ever decide to become a hard-core player, you can plunge yourself into the deep strategies and politics of this ever deepening game.

If you're still unsure, go ahead and see for yourself.

HEROES OF CHAOS

Postby Xiang Zhuang » 30 Sep 2012, 20:58

Heroes of Chaos has returned!

After a successful closed beta test, Heroes of Chaos: China is now opening its final beta test to all! No codes or passkeys required. This final test will include fine-tuning one of the novel functions of the simulation, which include the following:

- A revamped civil system, designed to rely less upon officers and more upon choice, while simplifying the entire process.
- A personal turn system designed with balance and diversity in mind. No more "only stat/skill training" PT's!
- A game system designed around the principle of lessening the importance of any particular battle for the purposes of increasing the amount of battle possible. This means that battles will be more common and more easily fought on multiple fronts.
- A battle system designed around simplicity, speed, and strategy.

The beta will last 11 game turns and starts in 191 AD, right after the Warlords abandoned the coalition against Dong Zhuo. The game is ruler-focused, with players signing up to play as one of the 12 historical ruler teams, either as the ruler or as part of their team. There will be limited PC sign-up based on the total amount of players involved, but PC sign-up will be balanced across all kingdoms. The game will be played more in a team format than is normal to simulations; plots and defections are prohibited. The full version will have more options available for PC's, but for the beta, the kingdom mechanics and personal turns are of primarily focus and can be tested best under these conditions.

Sign-ups for the ruler slots are now open! They will end on Saturday, October 6th, at 11 PM EST. The beta will be run at a high pace with an anticipated 2 1/2 month run, which means the sim should end shortly before Christmas. Average turn length is expected to be approximately 6 days.

Sign-up now and be a part of the resurrection of one of the most-fondly remembered sims! Do you have what it takes to be a Hero of Chaos?

GRAND REOPENING!!!

The Year is SY 458,

Ten months have passed since the fall of the Scarlet Moon Empire and the rise of the Toran Republic. The movement once known as 'The Liberation Army' is now officially the National Army of Toran and most of the remnants of the Scarlet Moon Army have been integrated into their ranks. A large portion of the citizens have taken a liking to the new regime, and are happy to have a strong and thoughtful leader such as President Lepant. There are still some loyal to the Empire however, and will always consider the land the Imperialist Scarlet Moon.

There are rumors of Imperial loyalists working behind the scenes to take back their nation, and accounts of caravans and small villages being raided by unknown assailants. President Lepant is urged to look into these matters, but his attention is fixed on their Northern borders, as the threat of another border dispute with Jowston is very real.

Bring your favorite character and join the site!!!

I'm not sure how much of a following that would have. Nowadays, we have multiplayer programs for Pokemon for PVP and even programs to play the game itself (That allows for RP) with other players.

To expand upon that, there's a d20 tabletop game for pokemon now that some people already use for online games of pokemon, so really there's no need for an entire sim dedicated to pokemon anymore.

That wasn't a RP site, it was a site with a community based around Pokemon Tabletop Adventures, a d20 tabletop game for pokemon that folk use to then have pokemon RPGs. The links to the playerguide and pokedex should be on that homepage

Way of the Dragon 2011

In a poll of players taken just after the game ended, 23% of players said it was the "BEST RTK SIM VERSION I HAVE EVAR PLAYED OF ANY SIM WEBSITE EVAR. I'M SPEAKING IN ALL CAPS IT'S THAT IMPORTANT" (direct quote). Fully 89% of respondents said that the game was "one of the best [sims] out there" or better.

Way of the Dragon 2012 Beta

We took all the unique features the players loved from WotD 2011 and enhanced them, with an eye to cutting out as much tracking, accounting, and other general nonsense as possible. We've reinvented the sim-wheel here, people, for the better.

If you like the idea of...
 • A game that puts an emphasis on individual officers making a difference within and without factions,
 • Personal armies that actually work,
 • Developing an extended family of fully-realized mechanical characters,
 • Stuff to do in the game that isn't just being a KT-bot,
 • Extremely streamlined and transparent mechanics that leave little to guesswork,
 • Items that have a bevy of mix-and-match customizable effects rather than ordinary stat boosts,
 • A point-buy system to build custom ranks according to your faction's needs,
 • Renown bonuses that offer tangible and interesting rewards when your character reaches milestones,
then try WotD Beta, because we did everything we could to make those things happen. Click the banner! :D

Be sure to leave feedback! :D

I know this is uber old, but every time I come onto this thread, I see it since its the third or fourth post down. For some reason, the link won't work for me... I get to the website just fine, but when I click on one of the links, a bunch of URLs pop up like the page is under construction. I don't know why this is happening :o I know for a fact that it used to work, since that is where I got my current avatar... I think this is an excellent cite, but it'd be even more amazing if I could see the pics XD

PS: Is it cuz I use firefox?

It's pretty impractical, but you can still copy the URL to the address bar to view the pics.

I'd try and fix it if I were the site admin, but sadly I'm not.

If there are any geography buffs here, do I have a list for you!

I did find some website that list the commanderies, maps, and estimate population in the commanderies to use as guides/references. Unfortunately, they are all in Chinese. I can read the Chinese somewhat, but I'm not an expert, so someone who can read Chinese better than I can should translate.

http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/三國行政區劃
The Chinese Wikipedia Page on Government Divisions for the Three Kingdoms period, including a list of all of the changes to the commandaries and commandery capitals over the period. The list is divided by Wei, Shu, or Wu, then the Province, Province Capital, Commandery, Commandery Capitals, and a list of counties under the commandery.

http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/東漢行政區劃
The same as above, but for the Eastern Han Dynasty, and includes the number of counties for each commandery. This list is more accurate for just before the beginning of the Three Kingdoms period. The list is divided in the same way as above, except without the Three Kingdoms.

http://www.guoxue123.com/other/map/zgmap/004.htm
Maps of the Eastern Han Provinces with Commandery Boundaries. I have been looking for these for a long time. The way to read the map is: Thick Boundaries are province Boundaries (use the list to match the names if it's too hard to distinguish). Black print represents geographic names during the Eastern Han. The blue dots represents cities in the Eastern Han. Brown names and dots represents modern Chinese names and places. If there is no brown dot for a major city, it likely has a blue dot, meaning the city has been in the same place since the Eastern Han era. If you see a smaller version of the province or commandery name on the map, that is where the province or commandery capital is. It may also have another name next to it, representing the actual city/county name at the time. There's also maps for the Tarim Basin ("Western Regions Frontier Command") and the Xianbei area.

http://www.guoxue123.com/other/map/zgmap/005.htm
Same as above, except for the Three Kingdoms period. Note that Yangzhou and Jingzhou are disjointed, since Wei and Wu controlled portions of each.

http://www.guoxue123.com/other/map/zgmap/006.htm
Same as above, except for Western Jin. I mention it because some of the maps are bigger and easier to read than the Eastern Han or Three Kingdom ones.

Also, I'm throwing it out there regarding population for the commanderies, in case you want to use get an idea of how many people there were...for a sim for example.

http://wk.baidu.com/view/5d94557f31b765 ... t=num#page
One estimate for the population counts during the Three Kingdoms period. One line will list the province with the number of commanderies, number of counties, number of households, and number of people. After that line, it will list the different commanderies in the province with the name, distance and direction from Luo Yang, number of cities, number of households, and population. Some also list the commandery capital at the end. Note that there are some commanderies missing.
For example, the ones below say:
司隶校尉部,郡7,县﹑邑﹑侯国106。计616355户,3106188口。 - Si Li Province, 7 Commanderies, 106 Counties (note the different Chinese characters for counties), estimated 616,355 households with 3,106,188 people.
汝南郡,洛阳东南650里。37城,404448户,2100788口 - Ru Nan Commandery, 650km SE from Luo Yang, 37 cities, 404,448 households, and 2,100,788 people.

http://tieba.baidu.com/p/1250483173
An alternate list, with less detailed counts. I'm not sure if it lists all of the commanderies either. The list goes by province, commandery, and estimate (in 10,000 increments). Some of the commandery also list out the prominent cities in it.

汝南,人口210万
This says Runan has 2.1 million people. (万 = 10,000)
